As Kahuna has stated on the http:www.chevyhhr.net we should start up a club directory. Sign in on this post if you have sent Kahuna a pm with your contact information.

I was going to check with Mike on his thoughts of this idea.

I have your PM, Frank... thanks!!

I just started with yours and mine. But I guess we need to get a feel for everyone else who may want to be included.

We had a directory with my last car-club and it was a nice resource for quick reference to reach other. Especially handy when someone is running late to a club event and wants to call ahead to let them know they will be there.

Only contact info I've had was for Mike.

Before we start doing all this, I think it might be time for us to discuss making this club "official".

When we started, some talked about keeping it very informal. I don't mean collecting dues or anything, but having a president and such, having regular events planned, having a directory........

Remember, I'm not in charge here, just one of the original members. No differnt than Tim, Angie, Bonnie or Doug.

So what do you all think?

But you're the one who wants everyone emailed and such. I think if we keep it informal, which I don't have a problem with, then it's unfair to expect things like a directory and mass emails and such to happen.

I hate to say it, but if we go that route, either it will die or all of the work will fall on someone like me.

How about some pro's and con's for keeping it informal or making it a formal club? I'll start a new thread to discuss this.

I think there is a happy medium between the two. Sooner or later as this club grows, there will have to be some sort of formality, if not it will be one big free for all. It will also look very unorganzied to any prospective members. I don't think we need formal meeting's with board members and Robert's Rules of Order but I do think we need some members to volunteer to accept some responsibilities. I am more than happy to be one of those people. Also, collecting a small yearly due to offset any costs incurred throughout the year doesn't seem to out of line to me either, maybe even making them voluntary.

This is a discussion that was going to happen sooner or later. Smile

Good points Scott...

Similar to how I feel. I have seen some car club get overly formal with monthly meetings / annual elections and a lot of political crap and I would hate to see us go that extreme.

I agree that a small fee to offset any cost of the website (if there is a fee).

I would offer to volunteer to help as well as I mentioned in the previous post.

I also addressed this in the new dedicated thread that Mike started...

i used to be in a jbody club in st.louis and they got to the point of weekly / monthly meetings / dues /

got to the point where you must attend atleast the monthly meeting or if they saw you cruseing and parked they would strip off your decal that you paid a good ammount for

i would hate to see that happen to all the nice people whom i meet you all seem very nice.

i vote yes on a directory just so you can have a central information

stuff you should have in that directory is
name
email
job
hobbys
what there good at like working on cars / computers etc

just my 02 cents

When I tried to start to collect names at a g2g last summer, someone threw a fit. So if it is gonna be done, someone else will have to do it.

I've pretty much given up on anyone else stepping up. It is what it is. I dounbt that this "club" will ever be more than what it is now. Not enough people who are regulars want it to be more and some are very against it.

Okay. I'm bringing this up again...........

I think it would be nice if we had a way of getting in touch with each other.

I want to put this together, I'll do all of the work. and to protect people's privacy we will only make the directory available to people who have attended at least two of our get togethers.

I'm also going to send out a mass email announcing this.

What we'll need are:
    Name(s)
    Address
Phone # (home or cell; please say which)
    HHR info: year, model, color
    user name on forum(s)

Again, this is voluntary and will only be given out to those who request it AND have been attended at least two get togethers.

Please email the information to: info@stlhhrs.com
